A feeling of heaviness, pressure, or bulging in the pelvis can be unsettling. Pelvic floor therapy can help you manage symptoms, build support, and stay active.
Pelvic organ prolapse happens when one or more of the pelvic organs (the bladder, uterus, or rectum) shifts downward because the support around it has changed. It is more common than many women realize, especially after childbirth and around menopause.
Many women describe a dragging or heavy feeling, often worse at the end of the day or after standing for a long time. Symptoms can change with activity, your cycle, and fatigue.
Prolapse can affect how well you empty your bladder or bowels, or lead to leaking. Strategies for toileting and pressure management can help.
Pregnancy and vaginal birth can affect pelvic organ support. The postpartum period is a great time to get assessed.
Hormonal changes affect the tissues that support the pelvic organs, which is why symptoms sometimes appear or worsen during menopause.
Heavy lifting, chronic straining, and coughing increase pressure on the pelvic floor. Learning to manage that pressure lets you stay active with less strain.

Prolapse is diagnosed by your doctor, and pelvic floor therapy helps you manage it. We assess your pelvic floor strength and coordination, posture, and breath, then build a plan with neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercise, pressure management strategies for lifting and daily tasks, and guidance on supportive products when they may help. An internal assessment is optional and can help guide treatment.
Ask any questions you have and see if Thrive is a good fit for you, before you commit to anything.
We review your history and symptoms, assess how your pelvic floor, core, posture, and breath work together, and set goals with you.
Each session is tailored to how you are doing that day, and you leave with a custom exercise plan to continue at home.
